Life-Change Story
"Hi, I'm Mark and I'm grateful in my recovery from a lifelong addiction to alcohol." Mark's life has been filled with conflict. Alcohol just always seemed to be there for him. He found himself physically, emotionally and spiritually spent.
It was on a business trip to Pennsylvania that he began to finally realize how much he had plunged into the depths of alcoholism. After a tough winter he developed pneumonia while on the trip and his drinking only made it worse. While admitted into the hospital, he came close to death more than once.
When he returned, he attended church a few times with Mary and a small group of men banded to pray for this seemingly hopeless alcoholic. Not only did they pray, but they cared enough to confront Mark. The time came when they explained that they had done everything necessary to get him to detox. He tried to come up with every excuse he could. "What about my work and paying our bills while I'm away?" They had already taken care of the house and all bills for a month.
Upon returning from detox, the same group of men got together and took him to recovery meetings consistently. Five years later on his road to recovery, Mark is now one of our facilitators and is studying to become a counselor! |
We are seeking your help today so we can finish out the year well with the Recovery for Life program. We are presently working on raising $20,000 for our year's-end campaign. This amount will help us:
Feed Attendees
We have the privilege of feeding about 100 people a week on Tuesday nights. This costs about $600 per month. "It makes recovery meetings warm and friendly," said one visitor. "I felt very welcome and amazed that we were fed too!" Of course, the food isn't free. Recovery for Life covers the cost. But it's worth it because people don't have to worry about dinner, and they keep coming back. So we're seeking your help today to cover the $600 per month we spend on meals. It's an essential facet of the evening. By helping us provide the food, you'll be helping us break down the barriers so people are open to hear the message and change.
 Complete Transitions House
We need about $10,000 to complete the remodeling by the end of the year. We have 2 ladies living there and expect to bring in another two early next year. Their lives are being changed!
Provide Pastoral Counseling
Also, Dr. Paul provides Pastoral Counseling for many of our people and the blessing is that they are getting better! A quarter of the counseling is provided free or at a subsidized rate. So many people need our help but can't afford it and have no other resource to deal with their issues. We urgently need $6000 to help care for people on the brink of emotional disaster.
