A new name and new look!

"Recovery for the City" is now trading as "Recovery for Life." After twelve years, we got tired of people thinking we are a "city" agency or "city disaster" relief program.

Transition Homes of Hope

We have begun remodeling on our first Transitions Home for Hope through a partnership with the City of Virginia Beach. The 2,000 square foot farm house will be ideal as a women’s transitional home. We will be able to house four women at a time for up to six months in order to help them get their lives organized and prepared for a life of independence. Plans are to open in the early summer.

Police Chaplain Program ready to take off!

Did you know that Recovery for Life and Dr. Paul help Police Officers with free counseling and support groups? Dr. Paul has been working with the Virginia Beach Police Department to develop a promotional brochure to make the Recovery for Life program available to all Police Officers who are in need of our services. We have helped save marriages and prevented serious issues for officers. It is our joy to serve the community this way!

The Power of Being “On Board.”

Recovery for Life is directed by and is accountable to a Board comprised of 14 local business leaders. Included are: a therapist, financial planners, CEO’s and real estate agents. There is such safety in working with a Board of Directors. The financial accountability and wisdom provided by this group of leaders is a great asset to the direction of the whole program. Rest assured that this program is run with excellence!

Save the Date!

That’s right! April 23rd we will host our 4th Annual “Life-Changers” Banquet. The theme, Beyond the Blues will feature jazz and blues musicians with a silent auction. To be held at the Virginia Beach Arts Center. Fun, food and great music!

Recovery receives a shot in the arm?

What? Yes, we received an unsolicited donation in the month of January. This gift will help us continue to provide services for children, teens and adults who struggle with the consequences of addictions and life-altering behaviors.

A. came in to see us because he was in trouble at school. Big trouble. After getting into fights with other students, he had now been caught smoking pot and didn’t know what to do. His parents were angry and concerned. Convinced he needed help and needed to change, be came into the AMP’D (Answers for Making Positive Decisions) youth program. He has attended for more than a year and has been fight and drug free for more than nine months now. “This program saved my life and my future!” he reports.
